My name is Edi, I'm 18, and I left Latvia for Germany to fulfill my dream of becoming an actress. I was cramped in my hometown, and my parents didn't believe in my choice. Everything is new here: language, people, life. I work in a cafe to pay for acting classes, go to auditions and learn to be independent. It can be difficult sometimes, but I know I'm on the right track. I chose myself, and I will never back down.

My main dream is to go to university and get a professional acting education. I want to not just act, but really understand my craft, learn from the best, try myself in different genres and stage techniques. For me, acting is more than a profession, it's a way to live hundreds of lives, to feel the world more deeply. I know that the path will be difficult, but I am ready to go through it, because I cannot imagine my future without it. I also dream of starting to travel, I want to feel the cultures of different countries, to see the beauty of our vast planet.

I like to watch people. In cafes, on the streets, in the subway — every look, gesture, and gait has its own story. Sometimes I imagine what they're thinking, how they're feeling, where they're going. It helps me to understand characters, to feel emotions more deeply — all that is so important for an actress. I also love going to art galleries. Paintings are frozen moments full of meaning. They make you think, feel, and seek inspiration. Sometimes, looking at a face painted hundreds of years ago, I can almost hear his voice. For me, art is not just beauty, but an opportunity to see the world more deeply, and therefore to play more sincerely. I can't stand it when someone decides how to live for someone else. When they say that dreams are not serious, that one should be “like everyone else.” I believe that everyone should choose their own path, even if it seems difficult or incomprehensible to others. Freedom is the most important thing we have, and no one has the right to take it away.
